A Partisan Thanksgiving
Because of Thanksgiving yesterday, there’s not a lot going on in the American blogosphere except for a number of posts wishing people a Happy Thanksgiving. I do find it interesting how those on the right and left often give thanks for different things. Here’s Ed Morrissey at the right wing Hotair:
What will be the blessings I keep in mind for today, and for which I will thank our Lord? Of course, first and foremost will be our families and friends. After that, as always, I will thank Him for the good fortune to live in this nation where men and women can be free to pursue their dreams. I will thank the Lord for the men and women who safeguard that liberty and security, whether they be in Iraq, Afghanistan, on the seas, in the air, or in our local police and fire stations, ready to risk their own lives to secure ours.
And then there is diarist Bill In Portland Maine at The Daily Kos:
Evolution
Electric cars
Bullet trains
Unions
Diversity
NASA
Public works projects
Stem cell research
To each their own, but boy, do the different sides of the political spectrum see things from very different angles.

C. Cabbie,
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration at our home with friends yesterday. Our meal was outstanding with the traditional turkey, with southern cornbread dressing, gravey, mashed potatoes, a fresh cranberry and fruit salad ending, garliced green beans ending with poached pears with melted chocolate sauce…all topped off with some very good Australian and Russian River wines.
After a good night’s sleep on very full stomachs…it’s time to wash and put away all those wine glasses!
And on these list of things to be thankful for…we all expressed good health, good friends and family!
Liberals thinks they are gods, that’s why. Notice the small ‘g’
Cabbie:
This is so less than I expect of you. If I gather the best of the “left” and the worst of the “right” on a any subject you would complaining “Don’t paint the right with one or two individual’s opinions”.
Though I will bookmark this post and every once in awhile post comparisions…and will expect you not to complain.

I wasn’t making a partisan point, just observing how the different sides view the world. I found it interesting is all. Naturally I think it a little daft that at thanksgiving we should be giving thanks for hybrid cars, but I really believe that on a personal occasion like thanksgiving it really is a case of “to each their own” and we shouldn’t stand in judgement on those we things we all feel the need to be thankful for.
So feel free to bookmark it if that makes you happy but it will probably only serve as a reminder that you shouldn’t be so quick to jump down other peoples throats
Twas hardly a “jump down your throat”…I was an observation regarding cherry picking commentary.
..and the line right after your selection in Bill in Portland Maine’s diary which was ommitted..
“…Our soldiers over here and over there.”
…and the right sounds so reasonable while discussing President Obama’s call to some troop members on Thanksgiving.
