Well, that’s all I need to know.
Hmmmm….interesting. I’m sure if I say anything about this, everyone will jump down my throat…but I have often wondered if Obama is the anti-christ. During the campaign…the way Obama and the crowds behaved in worshiipping him…was downright scary.
Modern day events are certainly in step with the bible…and I am not a religious fanatic…it just all fits, and I’m not happy that it does.
Anyone who denies Christ is an anti-christ. The Bible says there have been, are and will be many anti-christs.
“The” antichrist who is soon to be revealed is supposedly a person who will rule over a one world government and who knows if Obama will fill this role? America HAS to become socialist for this to work.
However, the sitting antichrist will be indwelt by satan himself at some point, so it is impossible for them to be one and the same.
I have another theory, Obama may be the false prophet and if that is the case he will have to be assassinated, or suffer a grievous head wound and rise again.
I wonder if this ties in with wilkerson’s prophecy that there will be fires and extreme violence in the USA in the near future.
It’s all speculation of course but AnAm is spot on saying world events are unfolding exactly as the Bible says it would (and yet few people read this awesome book).
There is clear evidence in the Bible that there will be a new Roman empire in the last days, literally ruled from Rome and this goes back to my earlier post on Jesuits that most of you ignored, for they are the true power brokers on earth under the ‘black’ pope. It’s interesting, if nothing else, that Tony Blair has converted to catholicism and is now bidding to be the first European President. Did none of you ever wonder why he disappeared literally overnight after leaving No.10? I believe he is to be groomed for a very big role in the future.
Good post Cabbie…the dark things swirling around your cab must have given you the jitters to post this!
Something off the topic but worth the read:

What is a conservative?? A republican or someone right of Obama?
OT
A conservative is not necessarily a Republican. Conservatism grew in America as a response to communism. There are many different types (social conservative, paleoconservative, neo-conservative, fiscal conservative and libertarian conservative). It’s hard to find too many common themes between those different types. For example, neo-conservatives believe in an active foreign policy and spreading freedom, whils paleoconservatives believe in a much more isolationist foreign policy. Social conservatives believe that government has a role in legislating to protect vital social functions (family, marriage, pornography) whilst libertarian conservatives don’t believe in governmental regulation. There are many cross-overs and differences between them all. I suppose that the defining similarities are a hatred of communism/socialism, the power of the individual and his rights and in low taxes and low spending.
Interestingly, a lot of conservatives actually come from the left originally. Many early conservatives were New-Deal Democrats (Reagan for example) who felt that the left took government involvement too far and that the Democrats became too closely aligned with communist Russia. Neo-conservatives were originally socialists who saw that as a failed project.
If you are really interested, I strongly recommend the book The Conservative intellectual movement in America since 1945 . It’s a great read which illustrates how conservative thought in America developed.

I’m……………
STUNNED.
Now l know why l shouldn’t look at stuff before 10 am!!!
That was jaw-droppingly nutty.
Fear in ancient (and fairly modern) times was and is a pretty bad thing with all sorts of ideas coming forth from very sane people and the uninformed at the same time.
Looks like the decendants of the flat earth brigade have learnt to use some technology without burning it at the stake.
Israel et al
The one thing the person who created this obviously doesn’t realise is that Barak Obama is actually Barack Obama II. Who’s to say his father wasn’t the Devil? Of course, that would mean that the current President would be “the spawn of Satan”
There is little need for speculation on this. Someone just has to inspect his head and look for the 3 sixes.
Cabbie..very interesting comments on conservatism…I am mostly ignorant of all of that stuff, thanks.
Cabbie,
Very interesting comments on Conservatism…I probably would fit into all the catagories you described.
I do consider myself a Conservative rather than a Republican…that’s why it was so hard for me to vote for McCain…the lesser of the two evils.
Mr Cabbie,
We have the 1976 edition of this book in the library in which I work I shall pull it off the shelves on my return to work on Monday.
However one review I have seen of it says
…Conservativism, that it is a completely inconsistent and incoherent belief system. Conservatives can be pro-capitalism like Friedman or anti-capitalism like Kirk. They can be against government intrusion like Meyer’s or pro-authoritarian like Bozell. They can stand against moral relativity while believing that the United States can operate under a different set of moral rules from the rest of the world as in William Bennett. The author quotes John Fischer who talks about the late William F. Buckley’s National Review claiming that rather than Conservative it was radical, “exhibiting such telltale signs of extremism as humorlessness, utopianism, inconsistency, and a persecution complex”.
Fischer’s definition of The National Review is actually the best definition of modern Conservativism that I could find. It is their mutual hatred of foes that binds them whether they are liberals, communists, secularist, minorities, non-Christians and on and on.
So what is Conservativism? In the end it seems to rest on nothing more than a negative reaction to change. The author writes that the number one enemy of Conservativism is the liberal philosophy of natural rights and civil liberties.
Conservativism is about the entrenchment of power and the stratification of society. At all levels from race, to wealth to gender, each will know his place. One writer for the National Review wrote that white community is so entitled to lead because, for the time being, it is the advanced race.
Woman shall be subservient to men and men shall be subservient to the church. If there were one society in the world that best represented the ideal of Conservative society it would be the Taliban.
Hayward
Comparing conservatism to the Taliban. An impartial review I take it. Have a read of it before you make a judgement, as someone learning about his own conservatism, I found it fascinating to tack the intellectual groundings.
Anyway, I’m off to strap on a bomb suit and loiter around tube stations.
Hayward,
What a bunch of liberal, intellectualized nonsense you continue to spout.
Do I sound like a subservient, cowed woman?
I am a completely ‘free’ woman and a Conservative and I am insulted.
And you are a American hating twit.
EVERYONE… please blog onto the Iowahawk site I prefaced earlier…this is how Hayward thinks and I put it on just for his benefit.
Conservative Cabbie,
How does it feel to be compared to the Taliban? Is it worth the effort you’ve gone to, to establish this site and maintain it…when one of your bloggers compares you and some of your conservative bloggers to a cavemen?
Just wondered….
hayward
your reviewers have much to say about what a conservative is and isn’t. presumably you concur, there is too much to comment on in a single posting.
i assume you wrote the line: “Conservatism is about the entrenchment of power and the stratification of society. At all levels from race, to wealth to gender, each will know his place.”
your implication in the use of “entrenchment” is exactly backward from modern day conservatism. stratification is the result, not the goal. And it’s not a static stratification either, at least up to the 95-percentile, but more akin to a geologic one except the scale of time is years, not eons, with the whole system constantly churning.
the U.S. is known for its remarkable vertical social and economic mobility. my sphere is filled with success stories of those with humble origins in numbers not found in any of the socialist countries that i have visited. these stories are not restricted to the field of science but permeate all of the productive part of our society. where i see the most generational stratification is in the effete intellectual community where theoreticians pontificate about thing about which they have no practical knowledge.
and the belief that conservatism is about entrenchment of wealth is laughable on its face. anyone who lives in this country knows to a certainty that the wealth is not controlled by conservatives. just look at the party affiliation in the richest congressional districts or look at the backgrounds of the financial gurus on wall street who all come from the ivy league schools and have a stranglehold they are unwilling to release.
the biggest popular lie about conservatism is that it is the party of the rich when in fact it occupies the great middle of America. i admit that there is correlation of income with conservatism in middle America but it is liberals who populate the extremes: the very wealthy (just visit the tony part of any major American city) and the poor whom they demagogue by constantly telling them that they are stuck in their circumstances until the government can get them out.
to me, socialism is about equalizing results independent of effort. conservatism is about being allowed to succeed. simply put, it’s the conservative part of our social structure that has allowed me to make a better life for myself and my children while the socialistic part would deny me that. i will not bore you with my story; it is enough to say that it started low socio-economically and it’s our system that allowed me to get ahead without any government help.
one fundamental flaw in socialism is that it does not acknowledge that unearned “success” is no success at all. i strongly believe, in principle, that socialism destroys initiative and that society suffers because of it. you know, it’s that rising tide thing — except in this case, it’s a lowering tide.
socialism is compassion blind to its ultimate consequences and it fails. conservatism is harsher but it works.
An American, Mr Cabbie, shockwaver,
First of all, how many times I have to say this. I am not American hating, twit or otherwise.
Mr Cabbie, praise be his name, has made the raison d’être of his blog the wonders of a Conservative/Republican USA. Now that I can find reason to contend with that premise is, I believe, fair enough.
I do not hate the USA. As I have said before hate and love to me are expressions of a personal nature. There are many things to be appreciative of in the the past, the present and hpefully into the future concerning the USA. However there are also as I have said before many thing that US Adminstrations of all hues have done that I find absolutely loathsome. That the most recent Administration happened to be one with, if not the worst President ever, at least the worst for quite some time. And some very unpleasant henchmen.
Bush with a strange congruence of American Exceptionalism, Manifest Destiny and the added Christian/Manichean overtones has not made the world, let alone the USA a better/safer place.
Look you, that was a review that I quoted from, they were not my words. It was one that caught my eye because of these lines concerning Conservatism in the USA.
“They can stand against moral relativity while believing that the United States can operate under a different set of moral rules from the rest of the world…”
apropos the above mix of AE, MD etc,
I have yet to read the book, so I will desist from any more comments on Conservatism in the USA until I have completed that reading.
Oh one more thing. An American, have you read The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. If some of the neotheos had their way that could be the future.
shockwaver, if you were able to get where you are with absolutely no government help, good on you. But was there no taxpayer input into wherever you studied from primary through to tertiary education. Has there been no taxpayer funding in any of the institutions where you carry out your shock wave work. Have all of these institutions been entirely user pays and/or privately endowed with no call on the tax payer at all?
OT,
One of the many anti christs, according to Bob Jones II is Billy Graham
“For a long time I believed that Billy was doing more harm than any other living man. What a tragedy to see him building the church of Antichrist, masking the wickedness of popery, and providing a sheep’s cloak of Christian recognition for the wolves of apostasy.
hayward
“An American, Mr Cabbie, shockwaver,
First of all, how many times I have to say this. I am not American hating, twit or otherwise”
fact is, i said nothing about you of a personal nature in my posting.
the reason i said that i “assumed” you wrote that line about conservatism was the absence of quote marks at that part of your posting.
i did in fact attend public schools. i also got to those schools on public roads. what i did not do is take any handouts because my circumstances were worse than my neighbor’s.
Hayward,
If I continually wrote negative things about your Prime Ministers, liberals, your country’s politics, wars, etc., I believe you might come to believe that I didn’t like Australia or Australians.
You constantly beat a negative drumbeat about America… Even when you write something positive, for instance, about the music you love…you have to throw a little tidbit in about the students being maimed and killed at Kent State.
Its not your background that matters…its your words.
Talking about gardens…I have some work to do this morning too…will check in later.
The anti-american arguement has always been an interesting one.
One of the theories l have read is that conservatives see the United States the way a five year old sees a parent, all knowing, powerful, completely in control and someone you don’t ever question.
Liberals see the United States the way that a teen does, you love them but they are not always right and you can get exasperated or embarressed by them. Even with all that you love them very deeply.
It’s interesting that the mantras of “America – love it or leave it”, “Country first”, “Suck on my truck nuts” and “These colours don’t run” seem to have been forgotten by the so-called patriotic right wing now that there has been a Democrat elected to the office of POTUS.
Israel,
Would you love a beautiful woman whom you couldn’t find a single redeeming quality?
Liberal don’t love America…they hate every single thing about it and want to destroy it.
They believe they can remake America into a socialist paradise. And to do that, every thing that was America will have to be plowed under. And, the way things are going under Obama…they may get their way…but I don’t think they will like the crop of weeds that comes up instead of the glorious wheat crop they plowed under.
Did you notice that Hugo Chavez is closing down some 35 radio stations…this is our future. To create a socialist paradise…you must have complete power…Will you be happy with that kind of country and world?
You think I am overstating…but just give this worldwide socialist movement time…”you ain’t seen nothing yet”! I’ll thankfully be dead when this all comes to fruition…but you may still be alive…please remember what I predicted.
Israel,
To answer the belief that Conservatives look at their government as five year olds…nothing could be further from the truth. We want government to go away and leave us alone. We can do just fine without it’s constant interferance and taxes. We only expect the federal government to protect us from invasion…and leave us the hell alone.
But…THAT is how Liberals look at their government..they want it to take care of all of their wants and needs. Just like the woman that asked Obama to give her a new kitchen or another who said she would no longer have to pay for house payments of gas for her car…these people voted for Obama and they believe he and the government
SHOULD take care of them…This is liberal America…let the other guy pay for my wants.
And no, Conservatives don’t believe their government is all-knowing and all-seeing. Conservatives want a smaller federal government because they believe that past Congress’ and Presidents have pretty much ruined everything they set out to fix…look at Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the Post Office including many other federal programs are failing. Why would we want to turn over our personal healthcare to the incompetent federal government? But the poor misguided, ignorant liberals are all for it…Wheee! another freebie…or so they have been lead to believe. In reality, there is no ‘free lunch’. Sooner or later, even they will have to pay up…probably with their jobs.
An American,
It is a free blog so go to it. If you need help I am able to supply a long list concerningmany sins of omission and commission in which the Commonwealth Government Of Australia could beregarded as guilty. Those of the present Labor Government, the former Liberal Government and what previous Governments of all hues have done.
As for the Kent State Shootings, the subject of the blog, was a response to Mr Cabbie newfound interest in Neil Young and the one song that came to my mind was “Ohio” That event caused the shut down, in a student strike, in most universities across the nation. That is a fact that you may not care to look at seriously, just pass off as yet anothe anti-rant, so be it.
An American:
“look at Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the Post Office including many other federal programs are failing.”
Is it your contention then that Medicare and Medicade should be cancelled?
Do you believe that conservative leaders should say that if they also believe as you do that these are failing?
What reasons can you give for them not following through if that is their belief?
An American:
“Would you love a beautiful woman whom you couldn’t find a single redeeming quality?”
If l couldn’t find a single redeeming quality then l wouldn’t find her beautiful.
What is really disturbing to me is your blanket viewpoint on liberals that they ALL hate America and they ALL want to destroy it.
This is so far from the truth. The only thing is, just like the 53% of tin-fiol hatters in the party you support you have latched onto this emotional comfort blanket as something to give reason why the country not only rejected your party in the last two elections, but have rejected a lot of their political and economic theories which have been in effect for over two decades and have led to financial crashes, a loss of respect and a loss of global influence under your party’s stewardship.
If it makes you feel better to think that all liberals are god hating, socialist loving, sodmite supporting, tree hugging, drug addicts waiting to hand over the US to foriegn agencies with the aid of a man whose mother and father conspired 47 years ago to fake his birth in the US so this could take place, then go ahead. Just make sure your bunker is full of tin cans and your guns are loaded, because babe, you have jumped the shark.
In the words of Edward R Morrow, “Goodnight, and good luck” to one and all.
Israel,
Social Security was the beginning of this federal boondoggle.
Social Security was originally meant to help the elderly indigent…now everyone gets Social Security and it is treated like it is a Retirement Fund instead of what it was originally intended…a small program for the very needy. Medicare and Medicaid is the same. What could have been small, targeted and sucessful is now…instead big, bloated and failing.
This has been Politicans ways of staying in office and power while busily enriching themselves. They pretend to be the benevolent benefactor putting their names on bridges, highways, etc….while they tax Peter to pay Paul. Its all an enormous con.
In the future…these programs will not be able to sustain themselves without the feds taking 79-80% of our earnings as taxes. On top of the Congress and Senators incompetence, most of these ’so-called’ servants of the people are busy making deals and stealing anything that isn’t nailed down…they go in rich and come out Mega-Rich on a good but modest income…too bad they aren’t as good at managing the country’s business and programa as they are at enriching themselves.
I was politically naive up until ten years ago…but no more.
Israel,
You still are mixing up Republican with Conservative. If the Republicans in Wash. DC had been Conservative…we wouldn’t be in quite as big a mess…they would have been able to put the brakes on spending…that’s why they lost the last two elections.
You make a good point…only liberal leaders hate America and want to change it…most of their followers are too greedy and ignorant to know the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground…just as long as they get that free kitchen.
And about broad unfair statements…read your last paragraph…I was trying to keep things civil and non-personal….but, there you go again.
Hayward,
I have no desire to tear your country, it’s history or it’s people apart.
We have enough problems here trying to survive this socialist takeover to worry about any other country. But, I will say that should Obama and cronies succeed in their pursuit…it will affect Australia too, and it won’t be good. Everyone will be poorer, lose their freedoms and be more at risk from an Islamic terrorist takeover. Workers of the World, Unite…will be everyone’s motto.
Israel,
What does jumped the shark mean…:)
an american
if i remember correctly, when fonsie was past his peak on his tv series and the script writers were scrounging for new material, they has a skit where he was water skiing or surfing or whatever. in the skit he jumped over a shark. this became a metaphor for the last gasp of a dying program. kind of like democrats spending $1.8T in one year and $10T in 10 years and proposing cap and trade and healthcare takeover all in the same breath. hopefully the democrats have jumped the shark.
“The anti-American arguement has always been an interesting one”
israel
can you name one thing obama likes about America?
shockwaver.
Why don’t you ask Obama, we’re not mind- readers here. Although I suspect that he migh be pretty content that anyone can become President of the United States in a free and fair election.
I’ve said before, everyone has a vision of their country and a lot of us think that our vision is the only true one. I have a vision of the UK and it includes having a fag with a beer at your pub of choice.
New Labour appears not to agree with my vision but I don’t think they hate Britain, they just think everyone should be bored out of their brains while letting the nanny state tell them how to live in perfect, cc TV-monitored, safety.
Ronnie
I agree that neither labour or Obama and his Democrats hate their respective countries. However, I think it’s fair to say that neither are particularly proud of the heritage, culture and history of their respective countries. And like shockwaver and An American, I find that troubling. Our past, good or bad, is what we have. For every bad thing in the past, there is a lot of good. Unfortunately, my perception is that the left like to dwell on the bad things, conservatives like to look at the good things. I know which I think is the more positive and beneficial outlook.
Cabbie, lets put it another way.
Conservatives think that the bad things are good.
Far left liberals think the good things are bad.
Discuss.
Ronnie
That’s not it at all. Conservatives believe that good things are good and that bad things are a necessary part of the reality of life. We all make mistakes, it’s just better to focus on the things we’ve done well rather than the things we’ve done badly. Like I said, a positive outlook.
I think far left liberals view anything outside their world view as being bad. The same is true of conservatives of course, but as a conservative, those things outside a liberal world view are more likely to be good for me and therefore I tend to agree with your second premise.
Shockwaver:
Well how about the Constitution, which he is there to defend, the school system that taught him, the freedom of and from religion which allows him and others to worship freely, the fact that he can do something his father and other African Americans were not able to do 60 years ago (sit anywhere they want on public transport and in restaurants and go to school with others of different ethnic backgrounds), from reports ond video l havr seen he loves the music and the people and the places where he has visited.
But no matter what l put down here you will still say that he hates your country, not those who are calling for Secession or wishing for economic failure. Why don’t you ask that question of those faux patriots instead?
israel
“But no matter what l put down here you will still say that he hates your country”
you have put words in my mouth. i have never said he hates the U.S.
“Well how about the Constitution?”
he has repeatedly said that the constitution is flawed in that it only restricts what the government can do. he called the bill of rights a bill of negative rights. i would hardly say he likes it.
he does not like our competitive economic system and would replace it with a more egalitarian one.
when obama looks at America he sees too many victims for my taste. victims condemn themselves to an unchanged future and he cultivates victims.
i would agree he likes the way our system has allowed blacks to go & sit anywhere they
want. it has not always been that way.
one American institution i am sure he likes is the irs.
obama’s race makes absolutely no difference to me. Both God and i know that were a conservative that shares my values to run for president that i would vote for them in a heartbeat. and any liberal that would change my country to socialist “utopia” would earns my resistance and disdain. i do not know if you can ever believe that but i assure you that i do not use God’s name lightly and what i say is the unqualified truth both intellectually and emotionally.
” those who are calling for Secession or wishing for economic failure.”
are a bunch of kooks and are to be shunned.
i chose who to associate with based on character and personality. race plays no role. i am confident that is true of most Americans in spite of suspicions to the contrary, fed by a constant barrage of selective news reporting. America is not what you see on the tube (flat screen).
